Marilyn’s Art Show, “Imagery of Healing”, will be the first and last time I expect my larger body of paintings and artworks to be shown together in one room and one setting. More shows, yes. More venues, yes. Just not such a Big Show as this will be!

This is your opportunity to see the largest collection I’ve put together in recent years at the Aurora Arts and Culture Center.

Wayne Gilbert joins me in the show “The Imagery of Healing”…

“IMAGERY OF HEALING” IN COLOR AND VOICE – PAINTING AND POETRY COME TOGETHER

• Moments of doubt and despair?

• Maybe you or someone you know is searching to define their feminine value in our culture?

• Suffered incarceration or has someone you know?

• Have you suffered a degenerative disease, like Parkinson’s, or do you know anyone who has?

Pablo Picasso said, “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”

TWO ARTISTS BRING LIGHT TO THE DARKNESS—

casting a lifeline of hope in the midst of darkness. Marilyn Wells and Wayne Gilbert, both lifelong in the pursuit of “The Imagery of Healing”, team up with show and tell on the topic.

Marilyn, after a long, challenging walk in life, bumping heads with doubt and despair, loss and tragedy, has a room filled with colorful paintings brimming with life, color, and hope. Her paintings tell a story of a story of the divine in the feminine and in everyday landscapes of color and joy against the darkness,. She’s been in art all her life, teaching, doing therapy, and painting. Her website and blog is http://www.marilynwells.com.

Wayne Gilbert was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2005. His first response was to write a poem. Since then he’s written over 100 poems about his experience with parkinson’s. Those poems are gathered in a manuscript called “rants, chants and the parkie dance” which will be published in 2018. He has shared these poems with parkinson’s support groups, at meetings and conferences, and on the sidewalk at the Parkinson’s World Congress in 2016, as well as the usual poetry venues around Denver. His poems are highly influenced by avant-garde jazz and ancient Chinese zen poetry. He has published two chapbooks: magmamystic, which is out-of-print, and From the Ashes available at http://www.liquidlightpress.com/books.htm Wayne is also a dancer (https://www.artasaction.org/reconnect/) and an actor.
