I have just joined the Sogetsu Ikebana training in Ikebana under the tutelage of Midori Alleymeyer.
Most of my art is seriously my own, taking a lifetime and as many hours a week as i can squirrel away; but here is something beautiful I can do with absolutely no consequences, pressure, or expectations! I am official.
This style of arranging flowers is something I’ve taken just a few classes and read the books I could lay hands on, but am such a novice that I’m very excited! (For one of my personal attempts I’ve photographed before.)
Ikebana schools have set curriculums with lesson books you can work through!
I’ve wanted to do THIS all my life. You can find classes, like my own.
I first learned about this many years ago and could never access or find opportunity to study formally – until now at last!
I like it that there are lots of rules, but that ultimately it is a personal experience and must be done with feeling and compassion for the flowers and all of nature, the environment, the seasons, non-dual reality. It’s truly a spiritual endeavor, not just arranging flowers.
I have posted a part of this on my Instagram, marilyn_wells_alphacetauras, but I’m not sure if you are Instagram followers. I am concentrating my sumi e work on marilyn_wells_sumi_e, along with some wabi sabi fun. Please check them out and let me know if you’re seeing this twice!
I cannot go as often as I would like to, but will attend as often as I can. In time I could dream of even being a teacher!
