Adding a few more abstract sumi-e paintings to my repertoire,

“To Live with My Eyes Open” 187S by Marilyn Wells—14”x 18” on mulberry paper, mounted—$350, double mounted on mat board—$450, framed—$875
“…this much I have learned—
if not enough else—
to live with my eyes open…”
-Mary Oliver 187S
How I believe these are viewer friendly…
As I said in an earlier blog post, I have been surprised at how well people relate to these based on the combination of the abstract image along with the quotation.
It seems that now, 50 years since I started painting, everyone has learned how to speak abstract. We have a new common language. We are learning the language of articulated emotion. We are teaching our children in their early grades to articulate emotions. This did not happen 50 years ago.
These pieces are a series of about 13 completely wet paste mounted on mulberry paper, ready for final mat board mounting and framing of your choice. I have recommendations when you are ready.

“Don’t Go to Strangers” 189S by Marilyn Wells—14”x 18” on mulberry paper, mounted—$350, double mounted on mat board—$450, framed—$875
“Don’t go to strangers
Just come on home to me.”
-Etta James 189S
With the quotations, the pieces speak for themselves. Also refer to my earlier blogs. And also a couple weeks ago this blog post.

“A Jar Full of Delight” 1811S – Rumi, 14″ x 18″ on mulberry paper—$350, double mounted on mat board—$450, framed—$875
“Every object, every being,
is a jar full of delight…”
– Rumi 1811S
Let me know how you respond to these. Your comments are very helpful to me as I go forward with the abstract work. Contact me with any questions also.
