Abstract sumi e painting, Zen Haiga style, with ink wash and both wet and dry brushstroke work by Marilyn Wells
was inspired by
“As usual, when angels gather,
They draw a following of devils:
gangsters, ganefs, and hard-luck women.”
_Michael Chabon “The Yiddish Policeman’s Union” 1880S
This quote struck me as both very likely true as well as hilarious. Somehow I relate to it myself. I found the quote in “The Yiddish Policemen’s Union”, a 2007 novel by American author Michael Chabon.
It’s available on my MarilynWellsArtStudio.com Shop – both Original and Prints.
also new in my art store

You too can experience the very real, felt body experience, when you intentionally engage in the practice of Beholding, of Knowing You Are Held, and then Expressing and Releasing the Ch’i or Energy of that back into the Infinite, into the Light. Private lessons available now.
“The real cohesion of a sumi-e piece of art is defined by void (white spaces). It constitutes the invisible ‘chi’ that enhances its parts. Void, in our minds, is the freedom between thought and thought. Similarly, a Zen mind holds itself together thanks to the freedom of void. Our minds are ‘buddha-void art pieces”. ~ From Paul Quintero (zen art and chinese calligraphy) @zen_art_time
