The Guide from Beyond – abstract sumi e. Your guide may not be telling you what you want to hear. But it might be what helps your soul to grow the most.
“Be Grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
* Rumi (CB) “The Guest House” 1839S
Imagine accepting Everything that comes into our lives as a Guide from beyond, sometimes meant for joy, and sometimes for deepening, growing, loving more fully, accepting other perspectives in a way we may never have done before.
Even all the difficult things that are coming into head-on collision with us these days of unrest and turmoil.
Instead of bristling – instead of becoming tribal and retreating into our own corners with those of (somewhat – vaguely) similar views, we just accept… here is a different perspective, a different awareness. How can I befriend this? How can I embrace it? For my own soul growth. Because it may never impress another person the same way as you understand your new acceptance.
Remember the old song, “Hello darkness, my old friend”? Simon and Garfunkel.
“Hello, darkness, my old friend, I’ve come to talk with you again, Because a vision softly creeping, Left its seeds while I was sleeping…And the vision that was planted in my brain – Still remains…”
Think it through again. What can we learn from the silence about recognizing every challenge and difficulty, as well as each joy and pleasure, as a Guide from beyond for our own heart and soul growth?
