Let go the life you planned – Have the life that is waiting for you – illustrated in abstract sumi e.
“Think that you’re gliding out
From the face of a cliff like an eagle.
Think that you’re walking like a tiger walks
By himself in the forest.
You are most handsome when you are after food.
Spend less time with nightingales and peacocks.
One is just a voice, the other just a color.”
- Rumi -You are Most Handsome 1840S
let go the life you had planned
We’ve all had to do this with the recent events. And many people have to because of the climate changes, the fires, the hurricanes, the global destructions, the destruction of our systems of belief and comfort zones.
I love the imagery of the Rumi poem “You Are Most Handsome”, as it helps me get out of my head and into the bodily feeling that inspires this painting.
It was most meaningful to me because I know when I am that focused, I know I am in the right place. Do you have something you feel called to do, like an eagle gliding out in search for basic sustenance, or something that you walk alone in, as silently and stealthily as the tiger in the forest?
When I do that, when I spend less time on the lesser, endless little voices and colors, I know I am in my center where I belong. I pray for Grace to be here more often, as the little details of life sometimes feel like they are frittering me away. Like writing my Will. lol.
I can will myself into being the eagle and the tiger – when I can let go of all the making for comfort that is in my life. How do we simplify? How do we learn to be meditative in the midst of complexity? Yes, we can do that. Let us begin.
